Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 10, 2026 · Last updated: October 10, 2026
Finding Eve ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Finding Eve mobile application, website and related services (the "Service") and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it (including with artificial intelligence, "AI"), who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. The Service is only for adults aged 18 or older.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, phone number and age, and the referral code you used to join, if any.
- Profile information: Photos, short profile videos, a voice intro (a script you choose, read aloud by an AI-generated voice), bio, headline, gender, age, city, interests, values, personality and lifestyle answers, dating preferences (such as age range, gender, distance and religion), and any social media links you choose to add.
- Onboarding and deep-dive answers: What you tell Eve, by voice or text, in the onboarding interview and the optional deep-dive conversation. AI turns your answers into a draft profile that you review and can edit, and into compatibility details such as your love language, attachment and conflict style, family plans, lifestyle habits (exercise, diet, smoking and drinking), education, occupation, attitude to money, political views, physical attraction preferences, deal-breakers and personality traits.
- Sensitive information: Your religion and denomination/sect, political views and lifestyle habits you mention in the deep dive, and dating preferences that may reveal information about your sex life or sexual orientation. You choose whether to provide these. You can change or remove your religion and dating preferences on your profile (see section 7); to have deep-dive details changed or removed, contact us.
- Authentication data: Information from the sign-in method you choose: Apple, Google, Facebook, or phone number verification by SMS. From Apple, Google and Facebook we receive your name and email address.
- Communications: Messages, voice notes and their transcripts, reactions, gifts and gift notes, game moves, date plans (venue, time and how it went), closing messages, friend connections and introductions, and feedback after calls (whether you would meet again, a vibe rating, any red flags and notes) that you send or record through the Service, as well as support conversations, feedback and contact requests you send us.
- Conversations with AI features: What you say or type when you use Eve chat, practice or voice conversations, AI-drafted replies, date coaching and other AI-assisted features; the short-lived facts Eve remembers from your chats (you can review and clear them); and the persona and settings for bot dating if you turn it on.
- Verification data: A selfie you take to verify that your profile photos show you. Where we offer identity verification, your ID document and liveness check are collected and processed by our identity verification provider.
- Safety information: Reports and blocks you make or receive (including what you write in a report), the reasons you give when you end a match, and safety check-ins you schedule (including the time and any location you enter).
- Purchases: Your subscription status and purchase history. Payments are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we never receive your card details.
- Settings and choices: Notification settings, quiet hours and time zone, distance unit, pause status, whether AI-assisted messages are labeled, and the date you agreed to AI processing.
- Waitlist: If you join the waitlist on our website, your email address and the page or referral link you signed up from.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Location: If you allow it, the app reads your device's location while you are using it (never in the background) and sends it to our servers, which round it to a grid of about 1 km (two decimal places of latitude and longitude) before storing it. We do not store your exact GPS position. When you set or change your city, we also convert the city name into approximate coordinates, rounded the same way.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, app version, and push notification tokens (including the token used to alert you to incoming calls).
- Usage data: How you interact with the Service, such as features used, matches, likes and passes, when you were last active, and timestamps. Some of these events are recorded with your account ID for product analytics.
- Log and diagnostic data: IP address, request logs, and crash reports, error reports and performance traces from the app and our servers.
- Call connection data: To connect a voice or video call, your device exchanges network addresses with the other member's device. When a direct connection is not possible, the call is routed through a relay server. We erase the stored connection details when the call ends.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Matching: To suggest matches based on your profile, preferences and location, using AI compatibility scoring (see section 2.3). We use your stored coordinates to find members near you. Other members see your city and an approximate distance range (2, 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100 km, or the nearest 100 km beyond that) calculated between grid cells of about 1 km, never your exact location.
- Messaging and calls: To deliver your messages, voice notes and calls, and to send you notifications.
- AI features: To power Eve chat, the onboarding interview and deep dive, practice and voice conversations, voice intros, AI-drafted replies, date coaching, red-flag checks, date ideas, pre-date prep, conversation insights, icebreakers, profile writing help and compatibility insights. AI compatibility scores and icebreakers use relevant parts of both members' profiles, and only for members who have agreed to AI processing (section 2.2). AI features inside a conversation use relevant parts of both profiles and the recent messages from both of you, so they run only when both of you have agreed to AI processing; the red-flag safety check is the one exception (section 2.2). If a conversation goes quiet and you have both agreed to AI processing, AI may read its recent messages to suggest a message to restart it, which we send to the member whose turn it is as a notification. Voice input is converted to text, and text replies may be converted to speech. Recordings you make for Eve, the onboarding interview and voice conversations are transcribed and not stored; we keep the text.
- Bot dating (optional): If you and a match both turn on bot dating and have both agreed to AI processing, AI personas built from each of your profiles, deep-dive answers and recent facts from your Eve chats chat with each other in your match thread. Their messages are clearly labeled as AI, and either of you can take over at any time. If either of you withdraws AI consent, the bot date pauses.
- Safety and moderation: To keep the community safe through the automated checks described in section 2.3, human review of reports, and safety check-ins. If you miss a safety check-in, our safety team is alerted and can see the time and any location you entered.
- Verification: To check that new profile photos show the same person as your verification selfie. An AI vision model compares the two images; we do not create or store a face template.
- Payments: To provide subscriptions and in-app purchases and to keep your premium status in sync with the App Store or Google Play.
- Service operation and security: To authenticate you, prevent fraud and abuse (including banned users re-registering), diagnose crashes and errors, measure AI usage and cost, and improve the Service.
- Communications from us: To send service messages and, unless you switch them off in notification settings, tips and promotions.
2.1 Legal Bases
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on: performance of our contract with you to provide the Service; your explicit consent to send your personal information to third-party AI providers (section 2.2), for sensitive information (such as religion, political views and dating preferences), for device location and for verification selfies; our legitimate interests in keeping members safe (including the red-flag safety check described in section 2.2), moderating content, preventing fraud and ban evasion, and securing, measuring and improving the Service; and legal obligations where the law requires us to keep or disclose information. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (see section 7).
2.2 AI Processing and Your Consent
Many parts of the Service rely on third-party AI providers: MiniMax (language, vision and voice models), Groq (speech-to-text and voice) and Cartesia (speech-to-text and voice). Before you can use onboarding, matching, messaging, uploads or any AI feature, we ask for your explicit permission on a dedicated screen in the app or on the website, and we record the date you agree.
- What is sent: Your profile and onboarding answers; messages you write to Eve and to your matches; photos, videos and voice recordings you upload or record; and, for AI features you use inside a conversation, the recent messages in that conversation.
- What it is for: Eve, your assistant and onboarding guide; matching and compatibility insights; voice transcription and spoken replies; and automated safety moderation of messages and media.
- Why it is needed: Every message, profile text, photo, video and voice note is checked by AI moderation before other members see it, and onboarding and matching use AI. Without your consent you cannot complete onboarding, change the text on your profile (your name, bio, headline, interests and similar), get new matches, send messages, upload media or use AI features, and the app and website open only your account tools: you can still sign in, download your data, delete your account, manage blocked members and contact support, and on the website you can also pause matching. Updates to your location, changes to profile details that are not text, and clearing a text field are not sent to AI and do not need your consent.
- Withdrawing: Settings → Account & privacy in the app, or the Account page on the website, shows the date you agreed and lets you withdraw. Once you withdraw, the features above stop working for you until you agree again, any bot date you are in pauses, and your profile is no longer sent to AI for other members' matching, icebreakers or bot dates. Withdrawing does not undo processing that has already happened and does not delete the information stored in your account; to remove that, delete your account (section 4).
- AI inside a conversation needs both of you: AI features that use your conversation with a match or both of your profiles (reply suggestions, date coaching, conversation insights, date ideas, pre-date prep and closing-message drafts) run only when both of you have agreed to AI processing. If your match has not agreed, these features are unavailable in that conversation, and while you have not agreed, your match cannot use them with you. AI compatibility scoring, icebreakers, bot dating and suggestions to restart a quiet conversation also use your profile and messages only if you have agreed.
- Red-flag safety check: The red-flag check looks for signs of scams, manipulation and pressure in a conversation to protect the member who runs it. When you run it, AI may analyze the messages you received in that conversation, and the name on the sender's profile, even if the sender has not turned on AI features; in the same way, a member you are talking to can run it on the messages you sent them even if you have not agreed. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping members safe (section 2.1), not consent, so that nobody can avoid the check by declining AI processing. To run the check yourself you need to have agreed.
2.3 Automated Decisions
Some decisions are made by automated systems, including AI, without a person involved at the time:
- Content checks: Messages, voice-note transcripts, profile text, community posts, success stories, game moves, gift notes and closing messages are classified by AI before they are delivered or published. Flagged content is not sent and you are asked to rephrase. If the check cannot run, messages are not sent until it can. Community posts and success stories are also held for approval by our team.
- Photo, video and selfie checks: Photos and frames from videos are rejected if they show prohibited content. Profile photos and selfies must clearly show a person, and once you have taken a verification selfie, new profile photos must match it.
- Contact details and scam warnings: Our servers (not AI) check messages for contact details such as phone numbers and social media handles until you and your match have exchanged enough messages, and for common scam patterns such as requests for money. These checks can hold back contact details or show a safety warning.
- Matching: Compatibility scores (from AI for members who have agreed to AI processing, otherwise calculated by our own servers without AI), together with your preferences, distance and the reasons you gave for ending earlier matches, decide which members are suggested to you.
- Reports: AI rates the severity of reports so our team can prioritize them; a report from someone who has not agreed to AI processing goes to our team without an AI rating. If a report is rated high severity and at least two different members who were matched with the reported person have reported them, the account is automatically suspended for 24 hours, its matches are ended, and members who had exchanged messages with it are told that an account they talked to was removed for safety reasons. Reports from two different matched members within 30 days that someone is under 18 lock that account for up to 7 days while our team reviews it.
You can ask for a person to review any automated decision about your account or content by contacting us (see section 10).
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only as described below.
3.1 With Other Members
Your profile (including photos, videos, voice intro, age, city, religion, verification badges and the other details you add) is shown to other members, together with an approximate distance. Messages, voice notes (with their transcripts) and calls go to the members you send them to; messages written with an AI suggestion are labeled as AI-assisted unless you turn this off. Your active match can see whether you are online and when you were last active, and some subscribers can see when you have read their messages. Community posts and success stories you submit may be shown to all members once approved. If your account is suspended for safety reasons, members you have exchanged messages with may be told that an account they talked to was removed for safety reasons.
3.2 With Service Providers
We use the following service providers to run the Service. Each receives only the data it needs for its task:
- Our cloud server provider: hosting of our application servers, our database (account, profile and message data), its backups and our server logs.
- Cloudflare (R2): storage and delivery of photos, videos, voice intros, voice notes and verification selfies.
- MiniMax: AI chat and assistant features (Eve, the onboarding interview and deep dive, practice and bot dating), profile drafting, compatibility scoring, icebreakers, date coaching and other AI suggestions, report triage, automated moderation of text, photos and video frames, selfie-to-photo comparison, and text-to-speech.
- Groq and Cartesia: speech-to-text transcription of voice input and voice notes, and text-to-speech.
- Google (Firebase): phone number sign-in and SMS verification in the app (including reCAPTCHA or Play Integrity checks), Apple sign-in on the website, and push notifications. The app and website also use Google's public servers to help set up calls, which see your device's IP address.
- Twilio: SMS verification codes for phone sign-in on the website, and relay servers that connect calls when a direct connection is not possible.
- Apple and Google: sign-in (if you choose it), push notifications, and processing of App Store and Google Play purchases.
- Meta (Facebook): sign-in, only if you choose to sign in with Facebook.
- RevenueCat: management of subscriptions and purchase receipts, linked to your account ID.
- Sentry: crash and error reporting and performance monitoring for the app and our servers.
- PostHog: product analytics events linked to your account ID.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: converting a city name into approximate coordinates. Only the city name is sent.
- Stripe Identity or Persona: identity document and liveness verification, only where we offer it and you choose to use it.
These providers process your information on our behalf and under our instructions. We require them by contract to protect it to a standard at least equal to this policy and not to use it for their own purposes.
Our public web pages (including this one) also load fonts from Google Fonts and an icon script from jsDelivr. Your browser connects to them directly, so they can see your IP address and browser details, which they handle under their own privacy policies.
3.3 Other Disclosures
We may disclose information when the law requires it, to respond to valid legal requests, to protect the safety of members or others (for example in child-safety or welfare emergencies), or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
3.4 International Transfers
Our service providers, including our AI providers, process information outside your country of residence, which may include the United States and countries in Asia. Where the law requires it, we protect these transfers with appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
- While your account exists: We keep your account, profile, onboarding and deep-dive conversations, Eve chats, matches and messages for as long as your account is open. Conversations remain available to the other member. Facts Eve remembers from your chats expire automatically.
- When you delete your account: Your profile is removed straight away and your account record is stripped of your personal details. We erase your name, email address, phone number, bio, location, religion, deep-dive answers and other profile details; delete your photos, videos, voice intro, voice notes and verification selfie from storage; delete your Eve conversations and memories, onboarding conversations, bot dating persona, device tokens, support messages, community posts and safety check-ins; replace the content of messages you sent with "[deleted]"; erase the free text you left elsewhere (such as date plans, gift notes, closing messages and feedback); and end your matches. Where you used identity verification, we ask the verification provider to delete its record. Shared match records (for example the match date and the compatibility summary shown in that match) stay with the other member.
- Abuse prevention record: To stop banned or abusive users from re-registering, we keep a limited deletion record (email address, phone number, name, gender, city, sign-in method, verification and subscription status, and a snapshot of your profile answers such as interests, values and religion). After 90 days your email address and phone number are replaced with one-way hashes, and your name, city and profile snapshot are erased. The remaining record is deleted completely after 2 years.
- Safety records: Reports, blocks and bans involving your account, and red flags other members raised after calls with you, are kept after deletion for as long as they are needed to protect members, prevent ban evasion and meet legal obligations.
- Purchase and usage records: Records of subscriptions and purchases are kept after deletion for accounting, tax and fraud prevention. Records of AI feature use (which feature, which provider, how much was used and what it cost, with no content) are kept for cost accounting and abuse prevention.
- Waitlist: We keep waitlist email addresses until you ask us to remove yours or we no longer need them to tell you about the launch.
- Logs, diagnostics and backups: Server logs, crash reports and analytics events are kept only as long as needed for security, troubleshooting and improving the Service. Deleted data may remain in database backups for a limited period until those backups expire.
5. Data Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls and logging of administrative access. Members only ever see an approximate distance, never your exact location, and your verification selfie is never shown to other members. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
6. Children
The Service is only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a member is under 18, please report them in the app or contact us. These reports are prioritized for review by our team, and we remove the account if it belongs to someone under 18.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and portability: Download a copy of your data (a JSON file, once every 24 hours) from Settings → Account & privacy → Download My Data in the app, or from the Account page on the website.
- Correction: Edit your profile at any time, or contact us to correct other information. Because profile text is checked by AI moderation, changing it needs your AI processing consent; updating your location or other details that are not text, or clearing a field, does not. Without consent the app and website do not open the profile editor, so contact us and we will make the change.
- Deletion: Delete your account at any time from Settings → Account & privacy in the app, or from the Account page on the website. Section 4 explains what happens to your data. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel it in your store account settings.
- AI processing: Withdraw your consent to AI processing at any time from Settings → Account & privacy in the app or the Account page on the website (section 2.2 explains what this changes). You can also review and clear what Eve remembers about you, and turn bot dating off.
- Location: Turn off location access for Finding Eve in your device settings at any time. We then stop collecting your device location. Updating the city on your profile replaces stored coordinates with city-level ones, or you can contact us to have them removed.
- Sensitive information: Change your dating preferences at any time, remove your religion from your profile, or contact us to remove deep-dive details or anything you cannot change yourself.
- Pausing: Take a break from matching at any time without deleting your account.
- Notifications: Manage push notifications, including promotions, in the app's notification settings or your device settings.
- Other rights: Depending on where you live, you may have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, to ask for a human review of automated decisions, and to complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@findingeve.app. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you, for example by asking you to write from the email address or phone number on your account. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, and if we decline your request you can ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.
8. Additional Information for US Residents
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, the following also applies to you.
- Categories we collect: In the past 12 months we have collected identifiers (such as name, email address, phone number, account ID, IP address and device tokens); characteristics protected by law (age, gender and religion); commercial information (subscriptions and purchases); internet or other electronic network activity (usage and logs); geolocation (city and coordinates rounded to about 1 km); audio, electronic and visual information (photos, videos, voice notes and selfies); inferences (compatibility details, personality traits and compatibility scores); and sensitive personal information (account log-in details, religion, political views, information about your sex life or sexual orientation, the contents of your messages, and location derived from your device). Section 1 describes each in detail.
- Sources, purposes and recipients: We collect this information from you, your device, other members (for example messages and reports), sign-in providers and app stores. We use it for the purposes in section 2 and disclose it for business purposes to the recipients in section 3. Section 4 explains how long we keep it.
- No sale or sharing: We do not sell personal information, do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
- Sensitive personal information: We use it only to provide the Service you ask for, to keep members safe and the Service secure, and for other purposes the law permits. We do not use it to infer characteristics about you for any other purpose.
- Your rights: You may have the right to know and access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a portable copy, to opt out of sales, sharing or targeted advertising (which we do not do), and to appeal our decision on a request. Use the in-app tools in section 7 or contact us. An authorized agent can make a request for you with your signed permission, and we may ask you to confirm your identity with us directly. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the dates above and, for material changes, notify you in the app before they take effect.
10. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or want to exercise your rights, please contact us at support@findingeve.app.
